I don’t know about you but I can feel a trend coming into next season involving some colour. There are so many inspiring opportunities to break the mold of the traditional white gown with a colourful creation. With some gorgeous pops of colour coming through in next year’s designer collections I thought it appropriate to put together some of my favourite colourful wedding dresses and give a bit of encouragement to those who want to bring something different to their wedding day!
This first bride designed her own gown and went to Jane Hill of Melbourne to bring her design together. The result is something any bride would be envious of!
The next couple I mentioned in a previous post but I have to revisit, because the gown is so appropriate for today’s topic! Jennifer Gifford designed this romantic blue gown and it is simply heavenly, a great way bring some soft colour to your day.
This Australian couple wanted their wedding to reflect their love of the Australian bush, and also to be vibrant and colourful, and they certainly achieved that. This Aurelio Costarella creation is an absolute inspiration for those looking to bring a pop of colour to their day!
This gold creation from Robert Rodriguez has such beautiful detail, from the applique to the frindge skirt, this gown screams art deco, chic, bohemian and has please wear me all over it!
A talented New Zealand designer, Collette Dinnigan, based in Australia is known for her delicate, sexy and incredibly detailed designs. This next bride took advantage of those talents and wore a beautiful soft champagne beaded creation which suits her complexion beautifully.
If you have been thinking of wearing a second gown on your day then right here is a great place to start. This bride changed into her gorgeous emerald gown from Jenny Packham for the reception and managed to take everyone’s breath away twice in one day!
This next bride provides some serious inspiration in her eye catching Oscar de la Renta gown. She wore a traditional Hindu gown for the ceremony and then changed into this seriously cool purple number for the reception. One word. WOW!
When I saw this Polka Dot Gown I felt like I had fallen into a Vintage Italian dream. With the bride in Valentino and the Groom in Prada this cute couple make a very stylish husband and wife team.
Ever felt like you were floating on a cloud? The bride in this styled shoot from Simply Bloom Photography must have felt exactly that. And on the beach? You have to check out the full photoshoot to see this gown in it’s full glory!
Vintage gowns are a fun and unique way to bring some old school glamour to your day. This next bride chose two incredible gowns from The Vintage Emporium and below is her gorgeous purple reception dress that you are going to love.
If you’re looking to bring a little sparkle to your day then this sultry bride will give you the confidence to do just that. She rocked her cutout back gown and spiced it up even more with her fur coat, sparkly drop earrings and red lippy.
Jenny Packham is one of my favourites, not only did she create that gorgeous emerald gown you saw above, she also created this amazing little blush pink number. I’m also in love with the high bun, it’s a perfect compliment to her gorgeous sequined gown.
Sticking with the blush pink theme, is a beautiful feminine gown from Vera Wang, sure to make any bride feel a princess on her big day.
This Melbourne couple wanted their day to be fun and casual and this fun & flirty blue dress fits the tone perfectly. Sourced from Wallflower Vintage this bride shows you how you can rock a chic retro three quarter length dress and nail it!
One of my favourite Australian designers, Steven Khalil, is known for his elegant and beautiful designs. Steven has designed many gowns for Kate Ritchie and he manages to get it right every time. If you’re going with colour, then go with Steven!
While traveling through the USA I came across a company by the name of BHLDN (Beloved). Their site converts US sizes to Australian and they ship internationally! These two sparkly blush and champagne coloured gowns are just a couple of favourites from their selection.
This year the Elie Saab runway show was all about colour, detail, beading and as always feminine and flattering gowns. I think we will be seeing more than one of these creations on the red carpet this year…so if you want to feel like a star on your wedding day, think Elie Saab.
And if colour isn’t your thing there is always black. Very chic, very modern and also very timeless. This inspiration shoot featuring a glamourous Vera Wang gown captured by Jose Villa makes me remember why I love black so much.
